NOTE: Term dates are Sept to June, including included one month intensive French course in Sept. Program is designed for students to become very proficient in French. Once proficent, students may attend regular classes with UBP students.
Universite Blaise Pascal is a comprehensive university with faculties of Arts, Languages and the Humanities, Exact and Natural Sciences, and Technology. Blaise Pascal has been offering an intensive French Language program for foreign students for more than 40 years.
Blaise Pascal is located near the city center in Clermont-Ferrand, the capital of the Auvergne region, in central France. It is about 250 miles south of Paris. The city has a population of 268,000 and offers urban amenities as well as outdoor opportunities. Clermont-Ferrand has a long and rich history and has a number of museums, historic buildings and neighborhoods, and ancient Roman structures.
The Service Universitaire des Etudiants Etrangers (SUEE) offers intensive French language courses at six learning levels. Upon arrival, students take a language test to determine the level at which they will begin. Most 3rd year CSU French students start at the third level. CSU students normally take the one-month intensive French session during September for no additional charge. See SUEE brochure for clarification, which written in English.
Students live in single rooms in residence halls within walking distance of the central campus. Room and food costs are estimated at roughly $4,000 per semester.
CSU students may attend UBP-Clearmont Ferrand for academic year or spring semester. (CSU students may attend for fall only if able remain for exams until late January - that is, if not returning to CSU for classes beginning in mid-January. Contact Robert Booker to apply for fall only.) The Fall semester, including intensive French pre-session, runs early September through late January. The spring semester runs mid February through late May. There is a two week break in the middle of each semester.
