Eligibility Requirements

Students must have a 3.0 GPA to qualify.
Students may not have received need-based CSU-administered Semester at Sea grant.

General Criteria for All Scholarships

Applications will be accepted from undergraduate students enrolled full-time in a degree-seeking program at Colorado State University. Gap Year students will not be eligible for the SAS/CSU grant and scholarship funding.  Applicants must be in good disciplinary standing at the time of application and maintain good standing to receive award money. In the event the number of qualified applicants exceeds the number of awards available, the scholarship committee will rate applications based on the following selection criteria:

  • financial need and diverse background of the applicant
  • the quality of the applicant's response to the essay questions
  • the applicant's cumulative grade point average
  • the country of destination -- preference will be given to students studying in non-traditional destination
  • the applicant's major -- preference will be given to the students majoring in underrepresented fields in study abroad
  • the length of the applicant's study abroad program

Scholarship applications are reviewed by a scholarship committee comprised of CSU faculty and/or staff after the posted deadline.
