OTHER PROGRAM DATES:  Please notice within the brochure that SUFLE offers other summer sessions in addition to the four-week mid-May to mid-June session described above.  Contact Amy Young in the CSU Education Abroad office if you prefer the four-week mid-June to mid-July (F06c) session instead, or you wish to attend both four-week sessions. Attending both four-week sessions doubles the program fee and home stay costs.

Academic Program

Designed for students with at least one year of French language study.  The program also serves intermediate or advanced level abilities, this four-week summer program is offered by Service Universitaire de  Françaises Langue Etrangere (SUFLE) within Université d' Aix-Marseille, located in the heart of Aix-en-Provence, France. Students attend language classes every morning and participate in a variety of afternoon cultural activities and seminars. In addition to weekday activities, students have the opportunity to participate in weekend day trips to sites of interest in the Provence region.

Rich in artistic heritage, Aix-en-Provence is renowned for its Medieval, Renaissance and 17th- and 18th-century architecture. One of the most beautiful and varied regions of France, Provence's topography is marvelously diverse with valleys, mountains, canyons, legendary beaches, and the salt marshes of La Camarague. Aix-en-Provence is first and foremost a university town. More than 40,000 students live and study in the city at large.

Students on the Summer French Language and Culture program will be housed with French host families. Students will receive breakfast and dinner daily (Monday - Friday) with their host families. Lunch daily and weekend meals are the responsibility of the student.  Students will be expected to pay for their accommodation and meals directly to their host families upon arrival (approximately $1000 USD).
